Is Itchy Ichabody just a moisturizer?

No.

It moisturizes and conditions the skin, but it was built as a much more complex botanical formula specifically for itchy, dry, sensitive, and difficult-to-comfort skin.

Instead of relying on a conventional moisturizing base, we combine numerous botanical oils and whole-plant extracts with Hyaluronic Acid, Aloe, Orthosilicic Acid, and Ætherbal’s patent-pending delivery platform.

What makes it different from an ordinary itch lotion?

The biggest difference is the formulation philosophy.

Itchy Ichabody wasn't built around one soothing ingredient added to a standard lotion base. Its botanical oils and extracts were selected for complementary roles, then incorporated into Ætherbal’s water- and oil-compatible delivery architecture.

The Science Behind Our Patent-Pending Delivery System

Skin is designed to be a barrier. And when we're formulating for skin that is already dry, sensitive, or uncomfortable, the relationship between the formula and that barrier deserves particular attention.

Ætherbal’s patent-pending delivery system was developed around two important formulation considerations: molecular size and the need to accommodate both water- and oil-compatible compounds.

At its foundation is Orthosilicic Acid, with a molecular mass of approximately 96 Daltons. Research in skin-permeation science commonly references an approximately 500-Dalton guideline, with smaller molecules generally having greater potential for passive penetration than larger molecules, although molecular size is only one of several factors affecting skin permeation.

Our system also incorporates Hyaluronic Acid selected at different molecular weights. Research has demonstrated that low-molecular-weight Hyaluronic Acid can move beyond the stratum corneum under experimental conditions, while higher-molecular-weight forms are predominantly retained closer to the surface.

Itchy Ichabody then adds substantial botanical complexity. Moringa, Sea Buckthorn, Gotu Kola, St. John’s Wort, and Emu Oil contribute lipid-compatible components, while Aloe, Fulvic Acid, and other components exist more comfortably in an aqueous environment. Whole-plant extracts add still more chemically diverse constituents.

Ætherbal’s amphiphilic architecture was designed around both hydrophilic and lipophilic environments, allowing us to formulate around that complexity rather than forcing it into a predominantly aqueous lotion or simple oil base.

Controlled permeation testing of the finished Itchy Ichabody formula has not established the penetration depth, flux, or skin retention of its individual botanical constituents. The delivery architecture represents the scientific rationale behind how we formulate rather than proof that every constituent reaches a particular depth.
