Silica Dit Da Jow
Advanced Botanical Care for Impact,
Injury & Physical Recovery
For the times your body has taken a serious hit—from a hard fall or sports injury to the aftermath of significant physical trauma.
Silica Dit Da Jow is Ætherbal’s modern interpretation of the centuries-old Dit Da Jow tradition—complex herbal preparations historically developed for martial artists and traditionally used following impact and physical injury. There is no single Dit Da Jow formula; numerous versions have developed across herbal and martial traditions, drawing from dozens of herbs used for different aspects of trauma and recovery. Silica Dit Da Jow is our most botanically complex formula, created by carefully selecting and combining herbs from that larger tradition for their complementary roles in impact, bruising, Blood stasis, bones and joints, deep discomfort, and physical recovery.
We preserved that time-honored botanical complexity, but we changed how those herbs are delivered. Traditional Dit Da Jow preparations are commonly alcohol-forward, yet whole plants contain a complex mixture of compounds—some more compatible with water and others with oils. The body also naturally depends on both water- and lipid-compatible environments, so we reformulated Dit Da Jow within Ætherbal’s patent-pending amphiphilic delivery system, designed around the challenges of getting beneficial botanical compounds through the skin’s protective barrier.
We kept the complexity and purpose of traditional Dit Da Jow. We modernized its delivery.
Best for:
Significant impact • Falls • Sports injuries • Bruised-feeling areas • Deep soreness • Tenderness • Stiffness • Post-injury body care • Physically overworked areas
🌿 Why These Botanicals?
Dit Da Jow has a long history as trauma-oriented herbal medicine, but there is no single universal formula. From the dozens of herbs found across traditional Dit Da Jow formulations, we carefully selected botanicals with complementary roles for the type of significant impact and physical trauma this formula was designed around.
-
Corydalis — Deep, persistent discomfort
-
Bai Zhi — Stubborn, concentrated discomfort; tenderness
-
Safflower — Moves Blood; traditionally used for Blood stasis and trauma
-
Dan Gui — Moves and nourishes Blood; traditionally used in injury formulas
-
Ligusticum Root — Moves Blood; deep, fixed discomfort
-
Arnica — Bruised-feeling areas; impact and physical trauma
-
Fang Feng — Stiffness; difficult-to-move-comfortably areas
-
Gu Sui Bu — Traditional bone and injury herb; structural support
-
Du Zhong — Bones, joints and muscles; structural support
-
Panax Ginseng — Physically taxed body; recovery support
Together, these herbs preserve the trauma-oriented character that makes Dit Da Jow fundamentally different from an ordinary sports balm.
How to Use
Shake well before use.
Apply a small amount to the desired area and gently massage into the skin until absorbed. Use daily as part of supportive body care following significant impact or injury, or incorporate it into your pre- or post-activity routine for demanding physical training.
For external use only. Avoid contact with the eyes and mucous membranes. Do not apply to broken or irritated skin. Do not ingest. Discontinue use if irritation occurs.
Significant trauma, suspected fracture, severe swelling, inability to bear weight, loss of function, or persistent or worsening pain should always be medically evaluated. Silica Dit Da Jow is intended as supportive topical body care and should not replace appropriate medical treatment for an injury.
What to Expect
Silica Dit Da Jow spreads smoothly and absorbs without the heavy, waxy texture associated with many conventional sports balms. Its extensive herbal extract matrix gives it a distinctive botanical character, while Frankincense, Turmeric and Myrrh contribute warm, earthy and resinous aromatic notes.
Unlike a traditional alcohol-forward Dit Da Jow liniment, Silica Dit Da Jow delivers the complexity of this ancient herbal tradition in a lightweight, modern topical designed for regular use.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is Dit Da Jow?
Dit Da Jow refers broadly to traditional Chinese herbal preparations historically associated with martial arts, conditioning and trauma-oriented body care.
There is no single universal Dit Da Jow recipe. Formulas vary among herbalists, martial traditions and lineages, often drawing from a large group of herbs traditionally selected for different aspects of impact, injury and physical recovery.
When would I reach for Silica Dit Da Jow?
Think significant impact or physical trauma.
Maybe you took a hard fall. You were injured playing a sport. You were in a car accident. You had a particularly rough martial arts or athletic training session. Or an area of your body simply feels deeply bruised, sore, stiff and banged-up after a physical event.
Those are the kinds of circumstances that inspired the traditional Dit Da Jow category and the reason Silica Dit Da Jow occupies a distinct place in the Ætherbal line.
For a significant injury, Silica Dit Da Jow should be used only as supportive topical body care alongside appropriate medical evaluation and treatment—not in place of it.
How is it different from Lighten the Load?
The distinction is important.
Lighten the Load: Widespread, shifting, complex or multiple kinds of discomfort at once.
Silica Dit Da Jow: Significant impact, physical trauma, post-injury or post-training areas that feel bruised, deeply sore, tender, stiff or overworked.
There is naturally some overlap because both are complex botanical formulas, but they were created around different patterns of discomfort.
Is it only for martial artists?
No. Martial arts provides the historical foundation, but the formula translates naturally to modern life—sports, strength training, physically demanding work, hard falls and other situations in which the body has taken a significant physical hit.
Should I use it before or after activity?
Either. Silica Dit Da Jow can be incorporated into pre- or post-activity body care. Its strongest positioning, however, is around impact, injury, post-training and the physically taxed body.
The Science Behind Our Patent-Pending Delivery System
Skin is designed to be a barrier, which makes topical delivery a formulation challenge. Ætherbal’s patent-pending delivery system was developed around two important considerations: molecular size and the need to work with both water- and oil-compatible botanical compounds.
Research has demonstrated that molecules below 500 Daltons are more likely to pass through the skin barrier. At the foundation of our system is Orthosilicic Acid, with a molecular mass of approximately 96 Daltons, well below the approximately 500-Dalton molecular-size guideline commonly discussed in skin-permeation science.
Whole-plant extracts add another layer of complexity, but a vast majority of the active constituents of plants are at or below 500 Daltons, making them excellent candidates for topical delivery. This is particularly important for Silica Dit Da Jow because its extensive botanical matrix contains many different classes of plant compounds with different chemical characteristics. Our amphiphilic system was designed to work with both water- and oil-compatible constituents rather than forcing this complex traditional formula into a predominantly water-, oil-, or alcohol-based vehicle.
The herbs are the botanical intelligence. Our delivery system is the formulation technology.
Ancient Martial Herbalism, Delivered Differently.
Impact. Injury. Trauma. Soreness. Stiffness. Recovery.
Silica Dit Da Jow was created for the times when your body hasn’t simply had a hard workout—it has taken a hit.
We preserved the complex botanical intelligence of the traditional Dit Da Jow approach and paired it with Ætherbal’s modern approach to topical delivery.
